Configure VTP Server, Client and Pruning



VTP Configuration:

Configure VTP Server
Switch>
Switch>enable
Switch#conf t
Switch(config)#vtp mode server
Device mode already VTP SERVER.
Switch(config)#vtp domain MICROSOFT
Changing VTP domain name from NULL to MICROSOFT
Switch(config)#vtp password microsoft

Configure VTP Server-VTP Client Connection port as trunk port.
Switch(config)#interface fastEthernet 0/24
Switch(config-if)#switchport mode trunk              

Note: Configure trunk port
so switch can send and receive
VTP advertisements 
to and from other switches
in the domain.

VTP Client
Configure VTP Client-VTP Server Connection port as trunk port.
Switch(config)#interface fastEthernet 0/24
Switch(config-if)#switchport mode trunk

Configure VTP Client
Switch#

VTP Pruning:
VTP Pruning restrict flooded traffic to those trunk links that the traffic must use to access the destination devices. Enable VTP pruning on a switch in VTP server mode.
